I thought for this blog I would recap on some quotes I have used in previous blogs. Do leave a comment which is your favourite and why.

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” Heraclitus

“A merry thought is medicine, ill thoughts dry the bones”. The Bible

“Wrong happens. You have to make the right happen.” Gopal Gaur Das
“Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.” Francis Bacon
“The paradox of personal growth is that it begins with self-acceptance.” Carl Rogers

“If we still ourselves we can mirror the Divine perfectly” Sarah Blondin
“Think the thought until you believe it. Once you believe it, it is.” Abraham Hicks
“The unexamined life is not worth living” Socrates (5th C BC)
“The way to use life is to do nothing through acting. The way to use life is to do everything through being.” Lao Tzu (6th C BC)

I loved the quotes! Thank you! My favorite: Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom. ~ Francis Bacon

I’m a believer in the law of attraction and In Hicks’ philosophy in general. However, in regards to all of the quotes- there is nuance and context that should be considered. And so .., yeah. Okay.

Yes, I agree that context is important. There was context when I first used them in posts and of course there is context when you read more about the origin of the quotes.

Each quote that you have posted is food for thought. People have a tendency to surface read what they see without actually thinking about what they have read. I’m absorbing each quote, dissecting them and incorporating them into my own line of thought. Wisdom is golden!

Thank you so much. I think that is the best way to read quotes and to actually learn from them.

I was trying to find out which chapter and verse that comes from the one you mentioned from the Bible. It most likely seems from the Proverbs, so I looked up all that had “bones” in them… and these were what I came up with…
A calm heart gives life to the body, But jealousy is rottennes to the bones – Proverbs 14:30
Pleasant sayings are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and a healing to the bones – Proverbs 16:24
Bright eyes make the heart rejoice; A good report invigorates the bones – Proverbs 15:30
Do not become wise in your own eyes. Fear Jehovah and turn away from bad.
It will be a healing to your body And refreshment for your bones. -Proverbs 3:7,8

The quote from Carl Rogers is brilliant. It’s so simple yet so powerful and meaningful. You can’t grow until you accept you for you and understand your past. That’s how I understand it. Thanks for sharing!

‘If we still ourselves we can mirror the Divine perfectly‘ Sarah Blondin. It reminded me that ‘We are all Gods waiting to be born.‘

Maria dear, I appreciate all the wonderful quotes – Also we receive plenty of forwards with wonderful thoughts & meaning, however we find very little change in human behaviour – My query would be Why? Is internal realization so difficult to achieve? Is it only Supreme Powers gift to give an individual that internal realization and then for that individual to act & change accordingly? If these quotes and forward are so well meaning & easily understood why is it people can’t put them into practice? Can anyone throw a light into it?

I think internal realisation is more difficult to achieve than it seems. Quotes like these ones help us get in the right direction but do not necessarily lead to enlightenment of any sort. The work to get there is incredibly difficult and I think we tend to give up a long way before we get to the internal realisation.

I really like the quote from Heraclitus .. as it is related to lessons which i got in my life , that after being betrayed by my loved ones i stopped myself going back to them because i am not the same person anymore.

Thank you. I’m sorry to hear about that experience but glad you refrained from going back.

Love all the quotes. The first is my favorite. I think of life as a personal evolution. While the river evolves by changes occurring above and below its surface, we, too, are evolving through external experiences which affect our internal thoughts, knowledge and beliefs… Hopefully, it’s a good evolution.💙
